Translator Lydia asked her mother to assist her by reading the Shatikha translation of John’s Gospel aloud while Lydia back-translated it into literal English in preparation for a consultant’s check. Her mother agreed to do this, but with some trepidation because she’s not a Christian. Since in this culture it’s forbidden to teach one’s elders, Lydia rejoices that in this way Scripture itself can do the preaching and evangelizing. Please pray for Lydia as she shares Jesus with her family and friends through her work. Pray that they ask questions regarding the Scripture they read and that Lydia is able to be bold for Christ in her community. Pray too for freedom for the Shatikha people – from bondage to false god’s and fear from the majority religion. May God be exalted in their lives and His praise be on their lips - for the salvation of many in this generation.
